The record has to hold up.

Ectropy Infrastructure builds and defends the documentary record behind grid and energy systems — forensic audits, integrity analysis, and record-keeping built to evidentiary standards: chain of custody, RFC 3161 timestamping, and a methodology designed to support legal proceedings.

Capabilities

What we are engaged to do

Forensic Grid Audits

Independent reconstruction of grid events from primary records — SCADA logs, work orders, inspection histories, and as-built documentation. The audit answers what the record actually supports, not what a narrative asserts.

60–120 days · sealed forensic report

Grid Integrity Analysis

A standing assessment of asset and data integrity measured against the as-built record. Discrepancies are documented with their evidentiary basis so they hold up under later scrutiny.

Scoped per system · recurring option

Evidentiary Record-Keeping

Record systems built to evidentiary standards. Every entry carries provenance, a timestamp, and a chain of custody, designed to support a legal proceeding from the day it is produced.

Engagement-length · sealed exports

Energy Support Services

Analytic and documentation support for energy operations and the disputes that follow them. Scope is set to the matter — from a single reconciliation to sustained program support.

Methodology

EctropyGrid™ — four steps from raw records to a sealed report

  1. Ingest

Primary records are captured as received and hashed on intake, before any analysis touches them.

  2. Reconcile

Sources are cross-checked against one another and against the as-built record; conflicts are logged, not smoothed over.

  3. Analyze

Findings are derived only from reconciled evidence, each one traceable back to the records that support it.

  4. Seal

The report and its evidence set are hashed and timestamped, producing a record an opposing expert can independently re-verify.

Security & chain of custody

How the record meets evidentiary standards

  • Records are hashed (SHA-256) on intake; the intake hash travels with the record for its whole lifecycle.
  • Sealed reports carry an RFC 3161 trusted timestamp — cryptographic proof of when a record existed, resistant to later backdating claims.
  • Chain of custody is logged per record — who touched it, when, and what changed.
  • Working copies are segregated from originals; originals are never edited in place.
  • Access is least-privilege and audited; engagement data is compartmented per client.
  • Encryption in transit and at rest. [Key-management attestation — in progress]
  • Data retention and destruction follow the engagement agreement and a documented schedule.
  • Independent re-verification instructions ship with every sealed report. [SOC 2 — status]
